However, a really nice touch is to also pack a few dressy pieces to wow your companion when you head off to a romantic evening meal or for a few drinks at a newly discovered bar. 

Even if the rest of the trip is a shared effort, it's always nice to surprise your partner with something unexpected, whether that be a sunrise breakfast, a booked spa treatment, a romantic picnic in the woods or tickets to a nearby event.

Put your phones on silent, ditch social media for a bit and truly tune into each other. Whether you're lounging in your lodge or exploring nature, being present is one of the most romantic things you can do. 

Few things feel as special as sharing the beauty of a sunrise or sunset. Set your alarm early, grab a blanket and a flask of coffee and make it a quiet moment just for the two of you. 

There's something magical about snapping photos the old-fashioned way. By bringing a disposable camera to your romantic couples getaway, you're making a conscious effort to take a snapshot of your time away together. It also adds a little charm and nostalgia to your trip, not to mention waiting to develop the photos later, which lets the memories live on.

Don't let any bad weather spoil your plans, bring waterproofs and warm layers, just in case the UK weather decides to try and put a dampener on things. It's also a good idea to have some indoor ideas at the ready. Bring along a board game, set that film aside that you've both been wanting to see, or take advantage of the facilities and entertainment at your Verdant Leisure park. All our parks are only a stone's throw away from some amazing villages, towns and cities. Before you arrive, check if there are any events happening close by hat could give your romantic getaway some added local flavour. 

Whether it's a nostalgic mix of your favourite songs or mellow background music for evening drinks on the deck, a curated playlist helps set the mood and bring back memories long after the holiday is over. 

While it's always important to plan ahead, don't be afraid to go with the flow. Not feeling the beach today? How about a walk in the woods instead? Don't have the energy to venture out to the local village for an evening meal? Just grab some supplies from the on-site shop. Remember, it's your holiday, so you can do whatever you want, whenever you feel like it.
