In today’s financial climate, we’re all looking to save money on our summer holidays – not just through the cost of accommodation, but our spending money, too. That’s why we’ve sought out ten of the very best family-friendly activities in Dumfries & Galloway, perfect for primary school age children.

Powfoot Beach

1. Bountiful beach days

Here’s an idea for a low-cost day out – head to the beach! The South West Scottish coast is lined with gorgeous beaches, from expansive golden sands to secret hidden coves.

Kids can be kept occupied for hours at the beach, with rockpools to explore, sandcastles to build, picnics to be devoured, and sea to be paddled in. What’s more, whilst they splash and play, you can relax on the sand with a good book.

At Queensberry Bay Leisure Park, you’ll have Powfoot Beach right on your doorstep! Or, if you want to travel further afield, you could go to Kippford Beach, or Carrick Bay.
