We are lucky enough to have some fantastic locations in west Scotland which will provide the ideal base to explore the scenery in the area.

Ayrshire Coastal Path
Viewfield Manor in North Ayrshire is within easy distance of Glasgow and offers a great location for city dwellers to escape to the country. The Ayrshire Coastal Path takes you along clifftops, up gullies and over rocky shores. It spans the 100 miles from Glenapp to Skelmorlie, with the closest parts of the route to Viewfield Manor running from Troon to Irvine (7.8 miles) or Irvine to Ardrossan (6 miles). Take footpaths and promenades to enjoy fantastic seascapes which are not to be missed!
Arran Coastal Way
Requiring a quick ferry ride from nearby Ardrossan, Arran is a popular location for anyone staying in North Ayrshire. Viewfield Manor guests and owners can take advantage of having this beautiful island so close by taking an autumn stroll down the Arran Coastal Way during their next stay! This challenging and rewarding 65 mile route is split into sections and packed with wildlife and amazing scenery. The route starts at Brodick, close to the Ferry Terminal, and the first 7.5 mile section of it up to Sannox is ideal for those seasoned walkers. The route takes you through Conocan Wood where you are sure to see plenty of squirrels gearing up for winter. Just be careful stepping through the leaves so you don’t disturb any sheltering wildlife!
River Annan Circuit
Our newest member of the Verdant Leisure family, Queensberry Bay, is the perfect place to stay for nature and outdoors lovers. Close to Gretna Green, within an hour of Carlisle, Queensberry Bay is a coastal park overlooking the Solway Firth close to Annan. The River Annan Circuit takes you up the banks of the River Annan between the town itself and the nearby village of Brydekirk, what’s more there is a pub half way where you can rest during your 6.5 mile walk!
Repentance Tower circular
Just a few miles up the road from Queensberry Bay you will find the Repentance Tower part of Hoddom Castle, built by John Maxwell as a watchtower in the 1500s. Located high on a hill, the tower has views across the Solway Firth and into the Dumfries and Galloway countryside. To get to the tower you can enjoy a 2 mile walk through woodland, where red squirrels, roe deer and more wildlife are known to meander. What more could you want from a relaxing walk?
